Technical papers, accepted for presentation, will be published in the proceeding of the National Seminar after due process of vetting. Authors intending to present a paper on any of the topics of the six technical sessions (please mention the specific session for which your paper is intended) in the seminar are advised to follow the Guidelines given here. Papers not conforming to these may be returned even on receipt.
Length:
1. Paper should not exceed 3000 words including 5 illustrations in maximum. The page limit is eight.
2. Written discussion on papers already published should not exceed 500 words and 2 illustrations (to be submitted within two months after the seminar).
3. Review papers may be allowed to exceed 3000 words, but in any case not more than 5000 words including 7 illustrations at maximum. The page limit is ten.
Preparation of Manuscripts:
1. The language of the Journal is English. The mode of presentation should be in the third person.
2. SI units should be used wherever possible. Other units, if used, should be given only in parentheses preceded by SI units.
3. Mathematical symbols should be typed or neatly handwritten. Care should be taken to differentiate between similar characters(eg, 1 and I), capital and lower case letters and superior and inferior types.
4. Manuscripts should be typed (use only MSWord) with double spacing throughout (including references) on one side of A4 size paper, leaving ample margins. Letter size of the body should be 12 pt. Each table should be typed separately. Lengthy mathematical proofs and derivations, and extensive test data are discouraged.
5. The preferred order of contents are:
a) Title of paper;
b) Author(s) name(s) and membership status;
c) Synopsis of not more than 150 words, covering the aims of the work, methods used, results obtained and conclusions reached;
d) List of notation, where applicable;
e) Authors' business address (including e-mail) as a footnote on the front page;
f) Body of the paper: Organized into a logical sections, with preferably not more than two grades of sub-headings;
g) Acknowledgement ;
h) References: References cited in the paper should be numbered sequentially in order of citation and given in the text by a superscript numeral, with a reference list, in numerical order, at the end of the paper. The list should give name(s) with initial(s) of author(s) and the exact title of the paper or book. For journals there should follow the title, volume number, month and year of issue and page numbers of the article. For books there should follow the name(s) of the editor(s) (if appropriate), the name of the publisher and the place and the year of publication. In case of conference proceedings, there should follow the conference's year and date. All references in this list should be indicated at some point in the text and vice versa. Unpublished data or private communications should not appear in the reference list;
i) Tables: These should be numbered consecutively throughout the text;
j) List of captions for the illustrations which should also be numbered consecutively throughout the text. Both line drawings and photographs must be included in the same numbering sequence.
Illustrations:
1. Original line drawings must be neatly drawn in black Indian ink on good quality tracing paper of A4 size(210mmx297mm). For lettering, only mechanical lettering sets(stencils) should be used.
2. Figures in the Journal are reduced to fit either into a single or double column width, that is 85 mm or 175 mm. Lettering in the figure should be large enough such that even the smallest of them would be at least 1.5 mm high when the figure sizes are reduced in print. Laser and DeskJet printer drawings are acceptable provided line is thick enough to be easily read after reduction. Drawings from dot matrix printers are not acceptable.
3. Figure captions should be typed out double spaced in a separate list at the end of the manuscripts.
Photographs:
Photographs should be clear, sharp, black and white prints, with good contrast, on glossy paper. Again the most suitable size is twice the final size. Cuttings from printed matter or photocopies are unsuitable for reproduction. Each illustration should be marked with the author(s)'s name(s) and figure number, the top of each photograph should be indicated. Illustrations will be returned to the author(s) only if specially requested for, and in the condition received from the press.
Copyright:
Papers are considered for possible publications on the understanding that these have not been submitted to any other publishers. The copyright of papers accepted for publication becomes the property of the Energy Club, Kolkata and reproduction of any part of the paper elsewhere is not allowed without the permission of the club. Contributors are required to sign a declaration to this effect while submitting the final copy of their papers.
Submission of Manuscripts:
Two copies of the manuscripts (please mark the original and page number with pencil on the back side of the paper) together with original illustrations and photographs and photocopies of the line drawings along with the soft copy in 3.5 inch floppy, should be sent to: Dr. B. K. Choudhury, The Secretary- Organizing Committee.
An advance copy can be submitted on Email: energy-club@iiswbm.edu. In case of joint authors, it must be made clear to whom communications and proofs are to be addressed. A preference for presentation in a particular part of the technical sessions (see 'The Topics of the Technical sessions') may please be stated. However, the final decision on the placement of a paper will be made by the technical committee. Papers are accepted on the understanding that they may be edited for style and use of language.
